music disk interface w.i.p. by Tomaes music disk interface w.i.p. by Tomaes
A few "work in progress" screenshots of a music disk interface I'm currently working on. I hope to finish this soon (e.g. this month).

Edit 2012: The final version has been released: [link]
Edit 2013: Replaced with a comparison shot.

Change the font. At least make it bolder.

Those are rescaled versions. The original screenshots are 800x300, so the font is very well visible. For a long time I actually had some sort of semi-transparent background for the "menu", but I dropped it in favor of a more unified look. :)

This is super cool. It's a music interface that changes in color and theme based on the tonality and the tempo of a song? I can hardly believe the coolness that is that concept.

Hehe, no, not quite. :) But yes, those are realtime effects. There is a colour scheme selector at the bottom left, and the whole thing is somewhat interactive. The animation in front (and all the "fish", "bubbles" etc. stuff in the background), is somewhat evolving and reacting to the mouse and bla.

So, it's not quite as advanced as you thought, but I think it will be pretty cool nonetheless. :)

No, that is still really awesome! I love interactive things that combine color with music. And I like the way you did your themes - they are very artistic and somewhat mathematical at the same time, making them extra cool.

Thank you. :)

(and yes, all the forms are based on rather simple math. Not the colours though. The animated background sprites (fish, jellyfish etc. - the whole thing is supposed to be some sort of abstract underwater scenario) - are hand-pixeled. They need some improvement though ;))

Is it going to be a program that will go to market?

No, it will be a free demoscene release.

Not that I think you'll still read this after all those years: But it has indeed been released: [link]
